Meet Emily: If you have ever been to Mountain View then you have probably had some kind of interaction with our Patient Care Manager Emily she seemingly does it all from reception, patient care, pharmacy, and even pet resort Mountain View’s very own “Jill of all trades” & Team Member of the Week.
Q: Tell me about yourself?
A: I grew up & still reside in Fernley with my boyfriend Tyler and our pets! Whether it be at work or at home, I usually keep myself pretty busy as I hate being bored and having nothing to do!
Q: What made you want to work with animals?
A: In all honesty, I grew up wanting to be a nurse but once I got older I realized that I didn’t want to deal with human bodily functions/fluids, but still wanted a job in the medical field, so I went for the next best thing that was similar!
Q: What interests you the most in your career?
A: It’s different all the time! Monotony is not my friend and after working at Starbucks and making the same drinks for the same people day in and day out, I wanted something with excitement. From watching surgery, doing basic appointments or witnessing complicated cases, there is always something new to learn!
Q: Do you have pets of your own?
A: I have three chihuahuas (Ava, Vito, Ringworm), a pomeranian (Aboo), and a bearded dragon named Wiley. I also have about 40 goats on my property during the summer, but they’re not mine I borrow them to eat my yard which means I get to witness the babies being born!
Q: What are your hobbies outside of work?
A: I love to spend a lot of time at home with my dogs, getting things done in the yard or improvements to the house. I love to cook, try my hardest to keep indoor plants alive, and sometimes go for a ride in the mountains on my quad!
Q: What or who inspires you?
A: My past! We all go through things and experience a lot good or bad, and knowing I’ve already survived what I have gives me a lot of inspiration to make it through whatever else will come!
Q: What does your ideal future career look like?
A: Who knows! I have so many different skills and interests that I’d be open to pursuing, buy hopefully whatever it is, it’s with the Mountain View family!
Q: What is your favorite task of your job?
A: Being available to help in all different areas of the hospital! Every day is different and that’s and that’s what I like.
Q: If you can be an animal what would it be?
A: Probably and owl they’re intelligent, up at night, and I really like the idea of being able to fly!
Don’t forget to check back next week, for the next Team Member of the Week!
