Women’s History Month: Deb Furno – Pet Resort Manager

In part 4 of our Women’s History Month interview series we present the full interview with Deb Furno the pet resort manager here at Mountain View Animal Hospital & Holistic Pet Care.

Q: What woman inspires you and why?

A: Sandra, my mother in law. She was the first HVAC licensed woman in California. She was also a single mother of 2 children.

Q: What qualities make a great leader?

A: Someone firm but fair who has good communication.

Q: If you could meet anyone, man or woman, living or dead, who would you want to meet?

A: My paternal grandfather and grandmother.

Q: Are there any assumptions about women that you would like to change? Why?

A: People may think that women are weaker than men and not very smart. But women are breaking down barriers and accomplishing so much and overcoming many obstacles.

Q: If you could learn to do anything, what would it be?

A: I would like to be more successful at my job and be the best pet resort manager. I would also like to learn to delegate tasks at work.

Q: What do you believe will be the biggest challenge for the generation of women behind you?

A: Some people believe women can’t be good leaders or even be the president of the United States, because women are weak or too emotional. Women will have to shed that stereotype and prove that they can be leaders.
