Women’s History Month: Emily Kennel – Operations Manager

In part 5 of our Women’s History Month interview series we present the full interview with Emily Kennel the operations manager here at Mountain View Animal Hospital & Holistic Pet Care.

Q: What woman inspires you and why?

A: Honestly, any woman that is strong, opinionated, and goal driven is a woman that inspires me! Working at this hospital gives me tons of women to be inspired by!

Q: What qualities make a great leader?

A: Being understanding & having self control! If you’re not either one of these things, it makes it difficult for employees to approach you. You should be the most approachable person if you are a leader.

Q: If you could meet anyone, man or woman, living or dead, who would you want to meet?

A: I would meet Michael Phelps. Growing up a swimmer, I’ve always looked up to him & his accomplishments. He’s gone through some really tough things and seems to be down to earth and it would be interesting to pick his brain.

Q: Are there any assumptions about women that you would like to change? Why?

A: That women are looked at like they are crazy for strongly expressing their opinions. In my experience, women are more articulate thinkers/speakers and men only say women are crazy because they are losing an argument.

Q: If you could learn to do anything, what would it be?

A: I would learn how to scuba dive! I have a passion for the ocean and all the wonderfully creepy species that reside in it and wish I could experience those animals in person.

Q: What do you believe will be the biggest challenge for the generation of women behind you?

A: The same challenge that women have been experiencing for decades – trying to prove that we are equal to men.
